Aslında ilk genelevler, 1812’de Osmanlı döneminde açılmıştır. Lakin size, 90’lı yıllarda zina yurdu genelev işletmeciliğinde zirve yapmış olan Manukyan’ın hayatını anlatacağız.
Varlıklı bir aileden olan Manukyan, Notre Dame de Sion Lisesi’ni bitirdikten sonra terzilik yaparak iş yaşamına başlar.
Karaköy’de kiraya verdiği ve babasına ait olan binaların kirasını ödeyemeyen bir kiracısının ortaklık teklifiyle, genelev işletmecisi olarak ona ün veren bu günah girişime ilk adımını atar.
Uyguladığı sıkı ve kar elde etmeye yönelik politikalarla işlettiği genelev sayısını seneler içerisinde 37’ye yükseltir.
II.Albülhamid döneminde Avrupa’dan gelen turistler için açılan Karaköy Zürafa Sokak’ta ki genelevlerin çoğunu zamanla yönetimine alması, iş başarısının örneklerinden biridir
Zina yurdu genelevlerden kazandığı paraları gayrimenkule dönüştürerek, ailesinden kalan gayrimenkul sayısını yükselten Manukyan, 90’larda 6 kez vergi rekortmeni seçilmiştir.
Sözde başarısını devlet de sayısız kere takdir eder. Maalesef! Vergi rekortmeni seçildiği için devlet ve ekonomi kuruluşları tarafından verilmiş bolca ödülü bulunmaktadır.
Dönemin gazete ve televizyonlarında bağışlarına dair sayfalarca haber bulunmaktadır.

O dönemin kadın satıcısı başarılı olduğu kadar keyfine de düşkündü.
O dönene Türkiye’de aynısından çok az bulunan Rolls-Royce marka arabasını, garajından hiç çıkarmayıp yalnızca içinde içki içtiği zamanlarda çıkarırdı.
Mal varlığı açıklandığında 2000’den fazla gayrimülkü olduğu öğrenildi. Bunların arasında en çok bilinenleri 500 adet daire, 50 adet dükkân, 4 tane han, 4 adet yazlık, 220 tane ticari taksi plakası, 37 tane genelevi, 40 adet bina, 2 adet fabrika, Kalamış’ta yat, bir Rolls-Royce, dört BMW ve dört tane de Mercedes otomobil ile Antalya’da bir otel yaşıyordu.

Kiracıları arasında birçok daire ve apartmanın dışında, Şişli Belediyesi ile Şişli Adliyesi de bulunuyordu.
Ona ait olan binalarda ”M&M” logosu bulunurdu.
1994’te küçük yaşta kız çalıştırmaktan göz altına alındı.
Tutuklanma talebiyle Şişli Adliyesi’ne sevk edilen Manukyan, maalesef aynı gün serbest bırakıldı.
Serbest bırakılmasının nedeni ise iddialara göre; kirada bulunan Şişli Adliyesi’nin mal binasının Manukyan’a ait olması ve ne tesadüftür ki aynı gün kira gününün gelmiş olması. Bu iddiaya göre patroniçe o ayın kirasını almayarak serbest bırakıldı.
Tabii Manukyan’ın bu popülerliğinden rahatsız olan insanlar da vardı. 90’larda faal olan Hizbullah terör örgütünün 1994’te yaptığı itirafta, Manukyan’a suikast bilgisi yer alıyor.
1995’te aracına yerleştirilmiş olan bombanın patlaması sonucu şoförü ve koruması yaşamını yitirirken, kazadan sağ kurtulan büyük dişi kadın satıcısının ayağı kırıldı.
8 ayda 12 ameliyat geçirerek ayağı tedavi oldu.
17 Şubat 2001’de Şişli’deki evinde kalp krizi geçirerek öldü.
Öldüğü gün tüm genelevleri kapısına siyah çelenk bırakıldı ve o gün tüm genelevler %50 indirimle görev başı yaptı. 😀 ne diyelim bilemedim.
